The Community Visioning group says many Decorah residents have talked to them about the challenges kids have getting to the schools and recreational areas north of East Heivly Street from the downtown area.
As a result, the group is proposing a new look to Heivly Street and Day Spring Lane, one that reorganizes parking spaces, creates a separated service and delivery lane for the rear of Water Street businesses and creates "Farmers Park" as a green space next to the Farmers Market area.
The group also wants to ban vehicular traffic from the block of Court Street north of Water Street and turn the street into a dedicated bike trail which would also continue along Day Spring Lane.
