November 6th is Election Day, but for many Winneshiek County residents, the election is already over.

The Winneshiek County Auditor's Office has been busy handling early voting and responding to requests for absentee ballots.

As of Friday, 1,100 people had voted at the Auditor's Office.  In addition, the office has received 2,692 requests for absentee ballots, has sent out ballots to all 2,692 people requesting ballots and has received 1,363 completed ballots in the mail.

That means almost 2,500 Winneshiek County residents have already cast ballots in the November election.

Voters can cast early ballots up until Monday, November 5th.  Absentee ballots returned to the Auditor's Office will also be counted--so long as they are postmarked by midnight, Monday, November 5th.  Absentee ballots also can be dropped off physically in the Auditor's office until the close of polls at 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 6th.
