A workshop on home maintenance and weatherization techniques will be presented in the Upper Explorerland conference room at 325 Washington Street at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The registration deadline is noon Thursday. Register by calling the Winneshiek County Extension office at 563-382-2949.
This workshop is meant to help homeowners and renters learn more about building science, how to properly maintain their homes, and teach techniques for sealing up their properties to reduce utility bills. The program will highlight best practices in weatherization, recommended air sealing products, and local resources to assist homeowners with their projects.
The program will be presented by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Field Specialist Scott Timm, who has worked as a Field Specialist and Sustainability Coordinator in Iowa for 9 years, recently moving to Decorah from Fairfield. He has led multiple large-scale energy efficiency campaigns and trained hundreds of volunteers in weatherization techniques.
The workshop is free and open to the public.
