There's a third candidate for the Winneshiek Medical Center Board

Decorah resident Susan McKone-Burks has announced she's a write-in candidate for one of the spots on the Winneshiek County Board of Trustees.

McKone-Burks was the long-time owner and chief pharmacist at Medicap Pharmacy in Decorah, which she sold and now is Thrifty White Pharmacy.  She says she volunteered to have her name written in on the ballot.

That ballot now says "vote for three" but County Auditor Ben Steines says only two people will be elected to the board.  There is a vacancy on the WMC Board, but it will be filled after the November 6th election by the remaining members on the Hospital Board.  The person voted in for that seat of the board will serve until 2020, when that seat would normally be up for election.

McKone-Burks stresses that anyone wishing to write in her name must make sure that they write in "Susan McKone-Burks," with "McKone" and the hyphen included.

Steve Hildebrand and Karl Jacobsen are the other two candidates running for spots on the WMC Board, both of them seeking re-election.
