Abandoned car leads to a ticket

A Hazleton woman has been issued a ticket after abandoning her car following a crash over the weekend.

Decorah Police say 32-year-old Jennifer Peyton approached the end of Second Street at the Upper Iowa River some time during the early morning hours of Saturday.  She drove into a drainage ditch where the water was approximately 5 feet deep, but was able to get out of her car.

A neighbor first discovered the car the next morning.  Peyton came to the Police Department around noon and told police she is not familiar with roads in Decorah.  She could not explain why she had not contacted police, so she was ticketed for careless driving.
