No charges will be filed in car/pedestrian accident

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says it has completed its investigation into a car versus pedestrian accident last week in Calmar and no charges will be filed.

The accident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. on October 1st on Maryville Street in Calmar. West Union resident John Baldwin struck a pedestrian who had walked into the middle of the road. Baldwin did not see the pedestrian because it was dark and raining, and the pedestrian was not within a crosswalk or intersection. The pedestrian, Benjamin Barnett of Calmar, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
