A Des Moines area firm could be hired to provide engineering services for both the Locust Road and Oneota Bridge projects in Decorah.
McClure Engineering, which has five offices in Iowa and Kansas, is the choice of the Decorah City Council's Streets Committee. Five firms submitted bids for at least one of the two projects.
The Oneota Bridge project will replace the deteriorating bridge over The Cut, near the Decorah Campground. The Locust Road project will handle the complicated work of replacing the southern end of Locust Road within the Decorah city limits.
Streets Committee members felt it was a good idea to have the same engineering firm handle both projects.
The committee's recommendation still must be approved by the full Decorah City Council.
