The Decorah School Board is turning to a Des Moines firm for help in hiring the next Decorah School Superintendent.
School board members have hired Grundmeyer Leader Services LLC to help recruit candidates for the top job in the Decorah School District, which will open when current Superintendent Mike Haluska retires June 30th.
Grundmeyer has submitted a "not-to-exceed bid" of $13,263, with a one-year guarantee. Two other firms submitted lower bids of $7,000 and $8,000, but Decorah School Board President Ron Fadness stresses that those were base bids, with other expenses such as travel costs and advertising costs added to the cost as incurred. Grundmeyer will charge lower than $13,263 if some of the projected costs for travel and advertising are not incurred.
Trent Grundmeyer and Roger Wilcox will visit Decorah next Wednesday, October 10th, to begin their consultation with the Decorah School Board. Fadness says the goal will be to have a new school superintendent selected by some time next February.
