Menards real estate representative Tyler Edwards has asked City of Decorah officials to temporarily halt review of the company's plan to build a 209,000 square foot store on property along Old Stage Road.
City Administrator Chad Bird says Edwards contacted him Friday afternoon to announce Menards plans to work on a new site plan that would place the development closer to Old Stage Road, which would have a lesser impact on the floodplain.
Bird says any revised proposal from Menards would require a restart of the city's review of the proposal. That would mean the new site plan and rezoning would be sent back to the city's Planning & Zoning Commission--which previously voted 4-3 against Menards' request for the property to be rezoned from floodplain to C-4 Shopping Center Commercial.
"It's his call as to what the next step will be," said Bird of Edwards' announcement that Menards is considering a revised proposal.
