Freeport, Frankville and Burr Oak will be getting new outdoor warning sirens in the future.
The project to replace existing sirens in Freeport and Frankville and to install a new siren in Burr Oak at their new sewer treatment plant carries a price tag of $57,932. Winneshiek County would pay 15 percent of that amount--$10,056--assuming that federal and state FEMA grants would cover the rest.
Winneshiek County Supervisors approved the project on Monday, with supervisor Dean Thompson stating, "There's no downside to the project."
