Decorah FFA team finishes 10th out of 27th teams in soil judging contest

Decorah FFA members Keagen Einck, David Johanningmeier, Garrett Lovstuen, Daniel Schwartzhoff, and Julianna Wise competed in the District FFA soils contest Tuesday at Hawkeye Community College, finishing tenth out of 27 teams.  100 FFA members competed in the contest.

The Decorah FFA members were tested on their knowledge of surface features, the soil profile, land capability and productivity, evaluation of land use and management practices, and suitability of soils for non-agricultural uses.  They took a forty point knowledge exam and evaluated four soil pits.
