Toys Go 'Round is losing its space at the Decorah Public Library

Posted: Wed, Sep 26, 2018 4:06 PM

Toys Go 'Round will lose its space in the Decorah Public Library by March 1st of next year.

The TGR Board has been notified by the City of Decorah that the library has other plans for the current TGR location.  The letter informing the Toys Go Round Board of the ending of the space use was signed by the Decorah Public Library Board of Trustees chair, the Library director and the Decorah City Manager.

The toy lending library has had its home in the lower level of the library for the past 27 years.  TGR's lending services and day-to-day operations will not change for the immediate future.

decorahnews.com has not yet received comments from the Decorah Library Board as to the reasons for the termination of the TGR lease.

An e-mail from Toys Go 'Round says "Leaving the Decorah Public Library space will pose major challenges."  However, it also says a new location is an opportunity to grow the program and "possibly to partner with other organizations that also serve the children of Winneshiek and surrounding counties."

TGR says it is looking for suggestions about potential new locations for the toy library, as well as for people willing to serve on the transition committee.  The TGR Board can be contacted by emailing tgrlibrary@yahoo.com or leaving a voicemail at (563) 277-5184
