Winneshiek County is one of only 4 counties in the state that has been identified as having gender equity on all key appointed board and commissions. Winneshiek County joins Harrison, Jasper, and Scott counties in achieving this equality.
Vision 2020 delegate Florine Swanson presented the Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors a Certificate of Equity. Iowa code requires all appointed boards and commissions at the county and city levels to have gender equity. Vision 2020 is a national initiative to make equality a national priority through shared leadership among men and women. 2020 is a significant year as it will mark the 100th anniversary of women having the right to vote.
