Voters have overwhelmingly supported continuing the existing bond levy for Northeast Iowa Community College.

The bond issue passed Tuesday night, with a total of 4,632 "yes" votes and 872 "no" votes--an 84 percent approval rate.  In Winneshiek County, 743 "yes" votes were cast, with just 84 "no" votes, almost a 90 percent approval rate.  You can find the unofficial results at: https://dubuquecounty.org/

The measure will allow NICC to continue its existing bond levy and to raise $39 million in taxpayer support.  NICC's current property tax levy rate for the bond and interest fund is set at $0.288 per $1,000 assessed valuation.  The new bond levy would remain at this current $0.288 levy rate.

The College's tax base includes public school districts in Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek counties, as well as sections of Bremer, Buchanan Jones, Jackson and Mitchell counties.
