City of Decorah officials are hoping the problems with the storm sewer on Vernon Street will soon be a thing of the past.
Last year a sinkhole closed the street for a time. Repairs were made which reopened the street. But now the Decorah City Council has accepted the low bid of $63,503 from Donlon Brothers Construction of Elgin for a permanent fix to the storm sewer. Not only will the work get done, but the bid was substantially lower than the $94,000 engineer's estimate for the project.
