Mobile Mamma hopes to expand into Winneshiek County and beyond

Mobile Mamma is a nonprofit organization that was formed in 2017 by a group of concerned mothers in Cresco in response to the ever increasing dangers of technology. One year later, the organization is experiencing exponential growth and has plans to expand their programming into other areas of Iowa, including Decorah and Winneshiek County.

Mobile Mamma Executive Director Christy Teslow says the organization is looking for outside funding in order to expand their presence in schools with their "Be a Bear" campaign, which she calls a modern day D.A.R.E. program. The curriculum is intended to teach youth, parents, guardians, and educators about the dangers of technology, and also provide tools to help keep children safe. The curriculum covers topics such as internet and cell phone safety, cyberbullying, inappropriate contact, social media networking, online predators, sexting, and human trafficking.

Teslow has been in touch with the administration of Decorah Middle School to develop plans to bring the Mobile Mamma curriculum to Decorah.
