A judge has agreed to delay the trial of one of the two people accused of attempted murder in a July 12th assault in Freeport.
18-year-old Dalton Adam of Waukon is charged with attempted murder, a Class B felony, and with willfully causing an injury, a Class C felony. The charges were filed in connection with an assault on 46-year-old David Hansen at Hansen's home on Old Stage Road. The criminal complaint claims Adam "expected to set in motion a…chain of events which will cause or result in the death of David Hansen."
Earlier this week a judge agreed to delaying Adam's trial to November 7th at 9:00 a.m. A pretrial hearing will be held at 9:00 a.m. October 23rd. Before October 23rd, the judge will hold a hearing on several motions in the case, including a motion to lower Adam's bail amount. Adam remains in the Winneshiek County Jail.
