Menard's real estate representative Tyler Edwards has sent a letter to the seven members of the Decorah City Council.
Edwards says he has been frustrated by the response of some people in the Decorah area who have urged Menard's "go up the hill in the business park." His letter says the site near Walmart is the best retail location and while Decorah is a growing community, "by putting a store in a town that is smaller than normal, we have to be sure the best spot is chosen."
Edwards says the business park location "is really an industrial park designed for job-creating businesses like the brewery, trucking companies, contractors and other industrial-type users." He says, "If Menard's is not able to choose the best location in town, then Menard's is not able to build in Decorah at all."
