Safe Routes to School offers two programs for elementary students

Posted: Tue, Aug 28, 2018 10:28 AM

The Safe Routes to School program is offering walking school bus and biking school bus programs again this fall.

Walking School Buses are for prekindergarten through second graders.  There are several Walking School Bus routes this school year.

The Biking School Bus operates before and after school on Wednesdays in September.  Students bike with an adult volunteer from Freeport Park or the corner of Rural Avenue/Ridgewood Drive to school in the morning and then bike back after school.  If a student can't make it in the morning but can in the afternoon (or vice versa), they should let the Biking Club organizers know in advance.  Those interested in joining the Biking Club need to register by noon on August 31st.

To sign your child up for the Biking Club or any of the WSB routes, express interest in starting a new route location, or to learn about volunteer opportunities, please contact SRTS Coordinator April Bril at abril@uerpc.org or 563-382-6171 ASAP or visit Decorah Walking and Biking School Bus Program on Facebook.
