Anxiety and depression group therapy offered at WMC

Posted: Mon, Aug 27, 2018 11:00 AM

An anxiety and depression coping skills group for adults will be offered this fall at Winneshiek Medical Center.

The group offers people age 18 and older a safe place to talk with others who understand, along with teaching positive coping skills and strategies to manage stress.  Says Mayo Clinic Health System psychologist Bridgette Hensley, the facilitator of the group, "This type of group therapy is more like a class – not a process group or support group as often depicted on TV – and it offers hope, valuable feedback and education, enhanced by the fact that no one feels they are 'alone' in coping with anxiety or depression."

To join the group, adults age 18 and older should make an appointment with Dr. Hensley for a consultation to discuss the possibility of joining. The Anxiety and Depression Coping Skills Group will meet from 5:15 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evenings from September 11th through October 30th.
