Downtown Decorah gets another new drinking fountain

Posted: Thu, Aug 23, 2018 4:54 PM

Property owners in downtown Decorah are charged a small property tax each year to raise money for projects that improve the downtown SSMID.  The latest project to be funded through these property taxes is a new drinking fountain at the corner of Main Street and Winnebago Street—kitty-corner from the Decorah Public Library and in front of the NE Iowa Peace & Justice Center.

The drinking fountain has more than just the usual fountain.  It also includes a place to fill up water bottles.  And for four-legged friends, the drinking fountain has a place at the bottom where dogs can be given water as well.

It's the second such drinking fountain in downtown Decorah.  The first such fountain was installed last year at the corner of West Water Street and River Street.
