The following was submitted by Jennifer Gipp on behalf of the Decorah Rotary Club:
"The Decorah Rotary Club sponsored the 2018 Trout Run Trail Tours Tuesday. This is an annual event that the Decorah Rotary Club sponsors in order to allow the elderly and those with physical limitations that prevent them from accessing the Trout Run Trail an opportunity to experience the beauty of the entire loop.
The 28-E Committee approves the use of Sports Utility Vehicles for this event only in order to accommodate people who cannot otherwise experience this amazing feature of Northeast Iowa. The Decorah Rotary's annual Trout Run Trail tour is a special designated event. Motor vehicles are not otherwise allowed on the Trout Run Trail or other recreational trails, except for authorized and emergency vehicles. If Winneshiek County adopts a UTV/ATV ordinance allowing for expanded ATV/UTV use in the county, recreational trails within Winneshiek County and the City of Decorah will still remain closed to motor vehicle use.
A special thanks to the following implement dealers and individuals who donated vehicles:
Bodensteiner Implement Company - Decorah
Decorah Kawasaki Sports Center
M&M Lawn and Leisure – Rushford, MN
Les Askelson
John Kerndt
Adam Thornton of Thornton's Feed and Grain in Decorah
Jeremy Bjerke
Also, thank you to the Chuck Gipp Decorah Fish Hatchery, the City of Decorah, the 28-E Committee, Quillins, Java Johns, and Decorah Rental for working with the Decorah Rotary Club to facilitate this event.
Thank you to Francis & Marilyn Peterson, Mike Huinker, and Harlan Satrom for helping coordinate the event.
A special thank you to all the land donors who made the Trout Run Trail possible.
We are grateful for the opportunity to provide residents of Northeast Iowa an opportunity to experience the natural beauty that is visible from the Trout Run Trail."
