Luther professor studies forgiveness

"There are many ways to hurt another person. There are also many ways to forgive that hurt."  That's how an article written by Luther College psychology professor Loren Toussaint and two other researchers begins.

The group put together "Luther College Community Forgiveness," a two-week campaign on campus to stress the positive effects of forgiveness.

The campaign surveyed students after the two weeks and discovered that 12 percent more students reported a stronger disposition toward forgiving others, 11 percent more forgiveness toward teachers and 8 percent more forgiveness towards parents.  The students also reported less conflict with teachers (9 percent) and parents (13 percent), and more love toward friends (10 percent) and teachers (14 percent).
