Dug Road has been repaved

It will be easier for bike riders, joggers and walkers to use Dug Road in the future. That's because a project to pave the trail has been completed.

The Decorah City Council awarded a $203,744 contract to Holland Construction for the Trout Run Trail – Dug Road Improvement project, which involved soil modification and a reconstituted surface for the trail nearest to the Decorah Campground. 70 percent of the project will be covered with FEMA funding, with another 15 percent from the State.

The trail now has a wider shoulder...

..but it's still not a good idea to go too far towards the river!

Toward the bluff, work has been done to remove some of the rock...

...creating a wider path than was previously in effect.
