Medical issues caused Decorah woman to crash into mailboxes

The Decorah Police Department has concluded its investigation into a traffic accident Sunday night around 10:00.
Officers say 74-year-old Shirley Johnson of Decorah suffered a medical issue while driving on Division Street which caused her to blackout. Her car crossed into the opposing lane of traffic, hit eight mailboxes and a flower garden and a culvert. Johnson came to, drove to her home and had her husband take her to Winneshiek Medical Center. Her husband contacted police about the accident.
The accident caused $4,000 in damages. No charges were filed.
