Too many questions about the proposed engine idling ordinance, so it gets tabled

The Decorah City Council needs more time to answer all the questions posed about an ordinance limiting the amount of time that engines can idle.
The ordinance would issue a motorist a warning for the first violation and a $25 fine for the second violation. The ordinance would apply to all vehicles, not just trucks and other heavy vehicles.
But Mayor Lorraine Borowski posed several questions about the proposed ordinance Monday night, as did several citizens. As a result, the city council will meet in the future as a committee of the whole to work out the answers before taking a vote on the proposed ordinance.
