City begins survey to determine how many residents would sign up for fast Internet service

The City of Decorah has begun an on-line pledge drive to find out how many people support a community-owned fiber Internet network.

The Decorah Fiber Pledge is located at www.ourbroadbandfuture.com/decorah   It explains the proposed community broadband project in Decorah, shows planned services and projected prices and asks the public to take a pledge to become a future customer.

City officials will use the results of the survey to determine whether such a network is financially practical, then will show the results to sources of financing.
