It's been a wet year in Decorah.
Decorah meteorologist Richard Bernatz says 5.61 inches of rain fell in Decorah during July, including a 2.26 inch rainfall on July 1st and a 1.65 inch rainfall on July 14th. July's total was 1.56 inches more than the average precipitation for July in Decorah.
That's part of a trend. In the last three months, precipitation has been 10.27 inches more than normal, while it's been 7.98 inches more than normal over the past 12 months. Eight of the last 12 months have been rainier than normal.
Bernatz says temperatures in Decorah in July were typical of what has been recorded during the past 124 years. The average high of 83.8 degrees was 8/10ths of a degree cooler than normal, while the average low of 61.2 degrees was 7/10ths of a degree warmer than normal. That means the daily average temperature was exactly the average for the past 124 Julys--72.5 degrees.
