A Decorah woman has been recognized for one of her rosemaling works.

Sally Stromseth won an award in the annual "National Norwegian-American Folk Art Exhibition" at Vesterheim Norwegian-American museum during Nordic Fest.  She was recognized in the rosemaling category for a plate painted in the Rogaland style.  Most rosemalers paint in a style specific to one of the different areas of Norway, and each style has very distinct characteristics.

"All the styles of rosemaling are lovely, but Rogaland is my favorite. I like the blending of colors and the symmetrical design," Stromseth wrote about her piece.

The exhibition also included woodworking, knifemaking, and weaving categories.  The exhibition included more than 100 examples of folk art by artists from all over the country.
