Church Women United in Winneshiek County has donated $366.21 to the Winneshiek Medical Center's Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Program.

The Winneshiek Medical Center Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Program is funded by The United Way of Winneshiek County, with participating vendors from the Decorah Area Farmers Market. Participants receive $10 in coupons for locally grown fruits and vegetables and there are limited coupons available each season, based on the funds available.

Recipients of these coupons must be Winneshiek County residents, age 65 and older, and bring proof of their residency and age to the distribution site.  A Winneshiek Medical Center Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Program ID card or driver's license are both acceptable identifying documents.  If seniors received 2017 coupons, they are asked to bring their yellow Winneshiek Medical Center Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Program ID card to help coordinators evaluate the success of the program.  There are no income guidelines to participate in this program.

The first distribution of coupons was held in June.  A second distribution of coupons will take place on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Farmers Market across from the Decorah Post Office.
