County subdivision owners ask county to plow their street, but county officials are cautious

Festina Road is an 800 foot long road just southeast of Festina.  Two houses sit along the road, with a third about to begin construction.

Subdivision developers Reuben and Zandra Hageman met with county supervisors Monday to ask Winneshiek County to plow the road during the winter.  However, the county's subdivision ordinance states such snow plowing is the responsibility of the developer, not the county.

The Hagemans pointed out that the county plows currently have to turn around at both ends of Festina Road, so continuing on the 800 feet of road would be easier--especially after the Hagemans have the street paved with asphalt in the near future.

County supervisors agreed the Hagemans have a point, but they referred the issue to County Attorney Andy Van Der Maaten for advice on the issue before taking any action.
