Ask Mr. Answer Person"Why isn't the Decorah Swimming Pool parking lot paved?"

Mr. Answer Person says: "I feel your pain (and my pain, too!).  But there's a simple reason the parking lot remains in gravel--the lack of money to pay for paving.

The Parks and Recreation Department has proposed adding money to its budget the past couple of years to pay for paving the parking lot.  City council members removed the item during their budget sessions.

So if you're interested in a better parking experience at the Decorah Swimming Pool, you'll need to talk with your city council representative--especially during budget session, which occur the beginning of the calendar year.  Maybe that's why it's been hard getting money for a swimming pool parking lot--the process takes place when we're thinking about snow removal instead!"
