Although a 28E contract agreement is pending, all signs point toward the Decorah Community Schools sharing phone service circuitry in the near future. The plan was presented by Director of Information, Systems, & Instructional Technology Kurt DeVore to the School Board on Monday night. Sharing the equipment is enabled by the entities being part of the Metronet. Although there will be a savings of about $160/month for the District, DeVore says the primary benefit is the redundancy in the system that will allow alternate routes to the servers if wires or cables are cut.
Work on the specifics of the 28E agreement is not yet complete, but the Board is expected to approve that contract next month.
