Trees at Decorah HS were especially hard hit
A storm front blew through Decorah just a few minutes before 5:00 p.m. Friday and when the storm was finished, Decorah property owners were just starting the job of cleaning up the debris.
The National Weather Service Office in La Crosse says rainfall totals officially varied from 2.04 inches near Jackson Junction to 1.54 inches near Decorah and 1.42 inches at the Decorah Municipal Airport.
But it was the strong winds which most concerned Decorah residents. Numerous properties had tree branches toppled by the gusts, with damage at Decorah High School, the Decorah Campground and throughout the city.
Chainsaws were busy Saturday as residents took multiple loads of tree branches and tree trunks to the city's Yard Waste Site.
Homes along Water Street also suffered damages
