Jessica Schmitt of Fort Atkinson is the 2018 Winneshiek County Fair Queen

Turkey Valley High School graduate Jessica Schmitt has been named the 2018 Winneshiek County Fair Queen.

Jessica is the 18-year-old daughter of Carl and Terry Schmitt of Fort Atkinson.  She is a graduate of Turkey Valley High School, where she was an active member of the Turkey Valley FFA chapter, holding positions as president, secretary and historian. She was also involved in the Turkey Valley Theater Department, Large Group and Individual speech, trapshooting and YODA (Youth opposed against drugs and alcohol). She maintained a GPA of 3.75-4.0 through high school.  Jessica will attend Iowa State University in the fall and plans to double major in Dairy Science and Agricultural Communication.

Danae Taylor was named 2018 Winneshiek County Fair Princess.  She is the 18-year-old daughter of Duane and Brenda Taylor of Ossian. Danae plans to attend Wartburg College and major in Music Therapy and Music Education.  In high school, Dana was involved in band, choir, large group and individual speech, fall musical, football cheerleading, trapshooting and SODA.  In FFA and 4-H, she was crowned the FFA sweetheart, served on the 4-H Winneshiek County Senior Council, and received grand and supreme champion at Winneshiek County Fair 4-H/FFA horse show.

Other Queen candidates were Hailey Nierling of Decorah and Hannah Snell of Decorah.

2017 Winneshiek County Fair Queen Gracie Schmitt and 2017 Winneshiek County Fair Princess  Marissa Foels were on hand to crown their successors.
