first on decorahnews.com: County approves permit for 1.5 MW solar energy farm south of Highway 9

The Winneshiek County Board of Adjustment has given its approval to MiEnergy Cooperative to build a solar panel farm on property on 270th Avenue south of Highway 9.

The 1.5 MW project will cover about 11 acres.  In addition to the solar panels, there will be a pollinator garden at the project site.  The project is within the MiEnergy Cooperative service territory and will be interconnected into the cooperative's electric distribution system.

The next step for MiEnergy will be to finalize the site by undertaking soil borings.

The project has a completion date of 2019.
