Iowa Flood Center has agreed to run flood modeling for Menard's location

Representatives from the Iowa Flood Center at the University of Iowa have agreed to run flood modeling for the Freeport floodplain where Menard's wants to build a new store.

Flood Center officials agreed to handle the project in a phone call with City of Decorah officials.  They will come to Decorah on Wednesday, July 18th at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall to present their findings.

Decorah City Administrator Chad Bird says the Planning & Zoning Commission will host the July 18th presentation.  Bird says the Commission also has agreed to postpone a vote on the Menard's application until a meeting in August "to give time to absorb" the information from the Iowa Flood Center.
