Bids opened on Burr Oak sewer project

The Burr Oak Wastewater Facility is one step closer to becoming a reality.

The Winneshiek County Board opened bids on the project Monday morning, with Skyline Construction the apparent low bidder with a bid of $343,991.95.  The engineer's cost estimate for the project was $355,000.

A second bid was opened from Generation X Construction in Rushford, Minnesota, but it was higher at $365,182.00 and there were questions raised about whether the bid was in compliance with bidding rules.

The Burr Oak project is being paid through USDA Rural Development funds, so the bids will be forwarded to the USDA.  County supervisors are expected to vote on approving the low bid next Monday.
