Nordic Fest Flag Recipient and Parade Grand Marshall announced

The Nordic Fest Board has named "Midge" Kjome the 2018 Nordic Fest Flag Recipient and Julie Shockey Trytten the 2018 Nordic Fest Parade Grand Marshal. This year's Nordic Fest will be held Thursday though Saturday, July 26th to the 28th.
Kjome, a Decorah native and a 1967 graduate of Luther College, has organized and presented the Nordic Fest Bunad Shows for 21 years, 1998-2018. In addition to the Nordic Fest shows she organized and presented many Vesterheim Elderhostel Bunad Shows, recently presented shows at Peterson, Minnesota's Gammel Dag Fest and has decorated several Nordic Fest Windows for the Decorah Genealogy Association and for the Porter House Museum.
Julie Shockey Trytten is a 2001 graduate of Luther College. She has volunteered at the Fest for the past 15 years, running the Nordic Fest Lefse Booth for the past seven years. " In addition to volunteering at the Lefse Booth, Shockey Trytten has volunteered for or been on the board for several non-profits in Decorah including Winneshiek County United Way, Humane Society of Northeast Iowa, Decorah United Soccer Club and the Winneshiek County Pheasants Forever. She has worked at Luther College for the past 17 years, currently serving as the Director of Media Relations. Shockey Trytten lives in Decorah with her two kids, Larsson and Anawrenn.
