Interim Tourist Director named

The Winneshiek County Convention and Visitors Bureau has hired an Interim Director.

Detra Dettmann was born and raised in northern Winneshiek County, north of Kendallville, on a small dairy and hog farm.  After earning two degrees in Wildlife Biology at Iowa State University, she spent 25 years in SE Iowa, including time with Louisa County Conservation Board as a naturalist, five years as an an executive director role at the county conservation board, then 11years as executive director at Pathfinders Resource Conservation and Development and a year and a half at the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce, working closely with Tourism and Economic Development.

She and her family returned to Winneshiek County in 2017 and live on property near Lake Meyer Park.

Dettmann will replace outgoing WCCVB Director Ries Magnuson July 1st while the WCCVB looks for a permanent director and also considers possible restructuring.
