The search has begun for a new president of Luther College.
The Chair of the Luther Board of Regents, 1992 Luther graduate Wendy Davidson, tells decorahnews.com the process will include frequent updates sent to all of the college's "stakeholders," including faculty, staff, students, donors, friends and "certainly the Decorah community."
The Vice Chair of the Board of Regents, Bob Paulson, will lead the presidential search process and chair the search committee.
Davidson tells decorahnews.com the college has already begun contacting presidential search consulting firms. Those firms then will be interviewed, with a recommendation made by early August, in time for a Board of Regents meeting. "We're reaching pretty far and wide," she tells decorahnews.com.
Once the consulting firm is hired, the formal search process will begin this fall. It's the goal of the search committee to select the new president by the end of the 2018-19 academic year, have that person visit the campus over the summer and start working at the beginning of the 2019-20 academic year.
The Board of Regents has already been receiving names of potential new college presidential candidates.
