Iowa Department of Transportation is offering $1 million to the City of Decorah to help pay for a new Pole Line Road Bridge

The City of Decorah will be getting quite a bit of financial help from the State of Iowa in paying for a new bridge on Pole Line Road.

Iowa Department of Transportation inspectors recently took a look at the culvert bridge and gave it a deficiency rating.  Because of that rating, the state is offering to pay 80 percent of the cost of installing a new bridge, with a cap at $1 million.

The new bridge would be wider than the current bridge and would no have any weight limits on it.  The City of Decorah would have three years in which to replace the old bridge if it signs an agreement with the Iowa DOT for funding.
