Work to begin 1on monitoring well at City Hall

The Iowa DNR has changed course about a diesel tank which used to be at the Decorah City Hall.
City Clerk Wanda Hemesath says the tank was removed in 2011 and the DNR notified the city at that time that "no further action" was required. Hemesath says DNR staffers have now recontacted the city seven years later and said they might reconsider their finding.
In the meantime, water quality monitoring wells will be drilled in the area where the diesel tank used to be--the parking lot behind City Hall. That doesn't mean the city necessarily will be required to take actions to correct the current situation, but it's a possibility the DNR has not yet ruled out.
