"Libraries Rock," the summer reading program at the Decorah Public Library, begins Friday. The eight-week program runs until July 27th.
Special performances include Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre's "The Amazing Adventures of Willy the Woolly," Iowa State University's Insect Zoo, Grout Museum District's Sound Science Demonstration, International Owl Center's Build an Owl Program, and Blank Park Zoo's Animal Sounds and Stories.
Family story times, "crafternoons" and "Curious Kids" will also be part of the Summer Reading Program calendar. With the support of RSVP and DHS Silver Cord volunteers, a Reading Mentor program will be offered to children entering first and second grades.
To encourage children, teens, and adults to read throughout the summer, weekly raffles for Chamber Dollars and DPL heavyweight boat tote bags will be held.
Registration for the "Libraries Rock!" Summer Reading Program begins Friday at www.decorah.lib.ia.us or at the front desk of the library. This program is free and open to the public. For additional information, please contact Children's and Youth Librarian Joan Roach at (563)382-3717 or visit the library's website or Facebook page.
