Decorah Police respond to traffic accident Wednesday morning on Highway 9 at Short Street

A traffic accident on Highway 9 at Short Street at 8:45 Wednesday morning caused over $4,000 in damages.

Decorah Police say 64-year-old Rita Hurd of Decorah was on Highway 9, stopped for the traffic light at Short Street.  The light turned green and she passed through the intersection, then tried to change lanes and struck a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Andrew Orvella of Decorah.

Neither driver was injured.  Hurd was ticketed for making an improper lane change.
