New Winneshiek County Deputy has been sworn in to office

It's official. Byron Hook--a former member of the Decorah Police Department--is now a member of the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office.
Hook was officially sworn in as a deputy Tuesday. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, where he met his wife, Emily. They moved to Northeast Iowa in 2000. Byron attended Upper Iowa University from 2001 to 2003. He served in the Decorah Army Reserve Unit for 13 years and was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Hook began his law enforcement career in 2009 with the Monona Police Department and graduated from the 233rd Basic Police Academy at Camp Dodge Military Base in Johnston, Iowa. In 2013 he joined the Decorah Police Department, where he served as an officer for the past 5 years.
Deputy Hook will be specializing in conducting investigations, working in the DARE/School Resource program and also will be active with the Special Response Team (SRT).
