Decorah Superintendent Haluska discusses options for a new bus barn

Decorah Community Schools Superintendent Michael Haluska and Buildings and Grounds Director Greg Schaller met with the County Board of Supervisors Monday morning to discuss the potential of leasing almost 5 acres of property from the County to construct a new district bus barn. The potential property is located  north of Wellington Place on River Road near Freeport.

Haluska suggested the property would be a good option for the District because of the property's location and easy access to paved roads throughout the disctrict. He also noted since the property is relatively flat, only minimal grading would need to be done to prepare for the new structure.

Haluska noted the district is also in discussion with Decorah Jobs about another potential property in the Decorah business park between Lang's Dairy and the Humane Society.

"Both are good properties with a lot of benefits, but the property near Freeport would be more centrally located," explained Haluska.

No action was taken by the Supervisors at the meeting.
