Winneshiek County students plant trees

Winneshiek County Master Gardeners Maryann Baker, Bob Davis, Drew Pellet, Dave Roslien, Jim Lage and Joy Roslien finish planting Black Hill Spruce trees with Gabriel Twedt's first grade class from John Cline Elementary.

First grade students throughout Winneshiek County and Decorah High School students have been busy planting trees this month.

The Fort Atkinson Nursery has donated seedling Black Hill Spruce trees to the students, then volunteers including Fort Atkinson Nursery's Scott Shindelar, ISU Extension staffer Beth Holthaus and Winneshiek County Master Gardeners Maryann Baker, Bob Davis, Drew Pellet, Dave and Joy Roslien, Jim Lage, and gave advice on how to plant and care for Black Hill Spruce trees to students at John Cline Elementary, St. Benedict's School and North Winneshiek School in Decorah, South Winneshiek Elementary and De Sales School in Ossian, CFS in Spillville and Turkey Valley School in Jackson Junction.
