Decorah FFA advances to State FFA Contest

The Decorah FFA will now compete at the State FFA Agronomy Contest in June at Iowa State University in Ames after their five-member team finished second at the Northeast Iowa District FFA Agronomy Contest.

Decorah FFA members Ashley Nierling, Daniel Schwartzhoff, Stacia Sexton, Steven Sexton, and Shayla Smith evaluated various crop production aspects, including hay quality, silage samples, seed quality, and corn and soybean marketing. The students also took a 50 question multiple-choice exam covering agronomic practices.  

In addition to finishing second out of 13 teams, Decorah FFA had two members do well in the individual contest--Daniel Schwartzhoff placed first and Steven Sexton placed sixth.
