Winneshiek County Democrats are urged to create a "blue wave"

Sunday's Winneshiek County Democratic Party fundraiser at Pulpit Rock Brewing drew a standing-room-only crowd.

Iowa Democratic Party First Vice Chair Andrea Phillips says Democrats around the state are fired up for the 2018 election.  She notes that Democratic candidates in six special elections in Iowa did at least 20 percentage points better in vote totals.

"This is the year we're going to win," Phillips predicts.  The number of Democrats running for political office in Iowa is up sharply this year, although Phillips says the party is still trying to recruit more candidates.  The Iowa Democratic Party's website has a list of all elective positions in the state--and whether any Democrat is a candidate for the position.
